Web recherchéNé le 18 juillet 1967 à New York sous le nom de Mark Vincent Sinclair, Vin Diesel grandit à Greenwich Village, élevé par une mère astrologue et un beau-père directeur de théâtre qui l'initie à la scène dès l'âge de sept ans. Il complète sa formation en étudiant l'écriture et l'anglais au Hunter College, tout en travaillant comme videur pour subvenir à ses besoins. Faute de décrocher des rôles, il prend les choses en main en 1994 en écrivant, réalisant et interprétant le court métrage Multi-Facial, présenté au Festival de Cannes. Son premier long métrage, Strays (1997), est sélectionné à Sundance et attire l'attention de Steven Spielberg, qui lui confie un rôle dans Il faut sauver le soldat Ryan (1998). La consécration populaire arrive en 2001 avec Fast and Furious, dont il est la figure centrale pendant plus de vingt ans, aux côtés de la franchise Riddick et de la saga xXx. Producteur fondateur de la société One Race Films (1995), il prête également sa voix à Groot dans les films Marvel des Gardiens de la Galaxie depuis 2014, réalisant lui-même les doublages en plusieurs langues. Son étoile est posée sur le Hollywood Walk of Fame en 2013.
