Faye Dunaway est une actrice, productrice de cinéma et scénariste américaine, née le 14 janvier 1941 à Bascom (Floride). Elle commence sa carrière au milieu des années 1960, l'immense succès du film Bonnie et Clyde en 1967 faisant d'elle une vedette. Louée pour sa grande beauté, elle devient l'une des plus grandes actrices du cinéma américain en jouant les femmes froides et sensuelles, à poigne et névrosées, guettées par la déchéance dans des films comme L'Affaire Thomas Crown, Chinatown, Les Trois Jours du Condor ainsi que Network. Au cours de sa carrière, elle se voit décerner un Oscar, un BAFTA, un Emmy et quatre Golden Globes. Emblème majeur du Nouvel Hollywood, elle travaille sous la direction de réalisateurs de renom et donne la réplique à certains des plus grands acteurs de sa génération. Parmi ses autres grands succès, il faut citer Little Big Man, La Tour infernale, Les Yeux de Laura Mars, Maman très chère, Barfly ou encore Arizona Dream. Faye Dunaway marque également son époque et la mode par l'incarnation d'un style particulier, chic et sophistiqué. Faye Dunaway a partagé sa vie avec le réalisateur Jerry Schatzberg de 1966 à 1968, l'acteur italien Marcello Mastroianni de 1968 à 1970, et l'acteur Harris Yulin de 1970 à 19722. Elle aurait également eu une liaison avec le réalisateur Robert Altman. Le 1er août 1974, Faye Dunaway épouse Peter Wolf, musicien et membre du groupe rock américain J. Geils Band dont elle divorce en 1979. En 1983, elle épouse le photographe de mode britannique Terry O'Neill avec lequel elle a son fils unique, Liam Dunaway O'Neill, né en 1980, mais divorce 4 ans plus tard, en 19877. En 2003, Terry O'Neill révèle que leur fils a en réalité été adopté contrairement à ce que prétendait son ex-femme : « Faye mourait d'envie d'avoir un bébé. Elle voulait être mère parce qu'elle a eu une enfance malheureuse. Mais nous n'avons pas réussi à en avoir un. » a-t-il déclaré pour le magazine Star68. Il poursuit en expliquant avoir demandé à Faye de dire la vérité sur l'adoption, ce qu'elle a refusé. C'est à l'âge de six ans que son fils aurait appris la vérité.
